I had a Senior Moment. You are probably thinking that I am being dramatic for the effect, but I assure you it was a ‘Senior Moment’ in every sense of the phrase. I guess it was lucky that it was SO completely Stupid; cause I am pretty sure that it is the only reason this mistake didn’t end badly. Don’t judge me too harshly, I think this is the dumbest thing that I have ever done. I did have to share it though because it is quite funny.
Here is the story:
I went to Wal-Mart on Saturday for some last minute Easter supplies. I was on the phone with my Mom at the time, and it was really busy, but there were tons of handicap parking. I was going to be quick so I used a temporary handicap pass that my Roommate has (we use it for parking at our apartment cause no one else uses the spot). I grabbed my debit card and ran in. I was in the store like 15 to 20 minutes tops. I bought all my supplies and started for the car. I was searching my pockets for my keys, and I started panicking because I couldn’t find them. I was praying that I didn’t lock them in the car.
Well I didn’t lock them in my car. No, I left them in my car…..in the ignition…….in the ON position!!!! Can you believe that!?!?! I left my car running (purse sitting on the seat!) while I ran into Wal-mart for 20 minutes! I CANNOT BELIEVE I WAS SO STUPID!
I must be the luckiest person in the world! Everything was still there. I am betting that everyone saw that Buick LeSabre, parked in that handicap spot. They took pity on the old senile person who drove it, so they didn’t touch the car. It was quite embarrassing too; there was a guy sitting in the car parked right next to me and watched the whole thing unfold. It must have been pretty funny to him….or disconcerting; he probably thought I was stealing that old person’s car.
Everyone keeps saying that I am far too young to have a Senior Moment.

ReplyDeleteCami, I left my wallet on my back bumper and drove from Antelope Island all the way into Layton. It stayed there THE WHOLE WAY! then, I went into Zupa's and only then realized what I had done. Lucky me... a couple of guys picked it up off my bumper and brought it from store to store till they found me. PHEW! And my 20 bucks was still in it.
ReplyDeleteGenius must run in the family.
Haha. That is great Kelly. I am so glad that I am not the only one. You see we have the genius part, but we are lucky too. So it all works out in the end.
