The Happy Book

I have been telling anyone who will listen about the joys of the infamous 'Happy Book'. So I decided to Blog about it so that I can tell everyone else about it. I know that this is not a completely original idea, I actually got the idea from a book already written, but I revamped it. With help from my Roommate we have come up with this wonderful idea that, if I say so myself, has really caught on.

I got a book called, 14,000 Things To Be Happy About by Barbara Ann Kipfer, for my birthday from my Bro Ryan. It is basically a list, in book form, of everything that makes her happy. I was reading through it and marking the things that made me happy too. Then I said to myself, "Self, you should make a list of things that make you happy".

Ever the fan of list making, I pulled out a blank palm sized notebook (I bought it cause it was pretty, even though I had no intended use for it at the time, now it seems like it was a purchase of destiny(too overdramatic?)). Anywho, I started the list. I printed off some picture of my nieces (the epitome of happiness) to put in there. I shared the idea with Sydney, and she had the genius idea to put pictures from Magazines in there also. It really brightened that thing up.

So 'The Happy Book' was formed. Mine is very nearly full of Happiness. Joy is literally bursting at the seams. And do you know what? Every time I put stuff in it or just look at it, it makes me happy. It is small so it fits in my purse, and can be used in a moments notice to clear those blues away. It is also cool because it is personal. Every one that I have seen has been totally different, and so good! So here are pictures of mine, just in case you don't understand, or if you would like some ideas so you can start your own. Personally I think everyone needs one!

The front page. The bottom says "A random list of anything and everything that puts a smile on my face....Let's Begin"

I just printed a bunch of black and white's on my printer for my book. I put the pictures in there randomly and write list all around them of things that make me happy (specific or in general).

So there is my 'Happy Book". Now get started on your own.
Or Else...

Senior Moment

I had a Senior Moment. You are probably thinking that I am being dramatic for the effect, but I assure you it was a ‘Senior Moment’ in every sense of the phrase. I guess it was lucky that it was SO completely Stupid; cause I am pretty sure that it is the only reason this mistake didn’t end badly. Don’t judge me too harshly, I think this is the dumbest thing that I have ever done. I did have to share it though because it is quite funny.

Here is the story:

I went to Wal-Mart on Saturday for some last minute Easter supplies. I was on the phone with my Mom at the time, and it was really busy, but there were tons of handicap parking. I was going to be quick so I used a temporary handicap pass that my Roommate has (we use it for parking at our apartment cause no one else uses the spot). I grabbed my debit card and ran in. I was in the store like 15 to 20 minutes tops. I bought all my supplies and started for the car. I was searching my pockets for my keys, and I started panicking because I couldn’t find them. I was praying that I didn’t lock them in the car.

Well I didn’t lock them in my car. No, I left them in my car… the ignition…….in the ON position!!!! Can you believe that!?!?! I left my car running (purse sitting on the seat!) while I ran into Wal-mart for 20 minutes! I CANNOT BELIEVE I WAS SO STUPID!

I must be the luckiest person in the world! Everything was still there. I am betting that everyone saw that Buick LeSabre, parked in that handicap spot. They took pity on the old senile person who drove it, so they didn’t touch the car. It was quite embarrassing too; there was a guy sitting in the car parked right next to me and watched the whole thing unfold. It must have been pretty funny to him….or disconcerting; he probably thought I was stealing that old person’s car.

Everyone keeps saying that I am far too young to have a Senior Moment.
To that I will say,
I must be an overachiever.

April FOOL

I am not much of a trickster. On occasion the mood moves me and I will play a small innocent little trick. So today, much to everyone's surprise, including my own...WAIT...especially my own, that mood moved me. Well, not just moved me, it hit me, tackled me, dragged me a few block, and knocked me completely senseless.

I think it all started last night when I was sitting there so innocently joking around with Sydney. The next thing I knew I was calling my Supervisor Sharen's phone # at work and left a message about how my job is too stressful, and I have so much anxiety that it is making me sick, and I just can't deal with it anymore so I quit, all said while fake crying. Then that got me thinking and well.....My poor co-workers suffered from this total lapse in my judgment.

This is what happened, I will list them numerically:

1-I got to work and had Jan call Amy and tell her that I hit her car in the parking lot (doesn't sound so bad, but you see Amy has had her car hit 2 times in that very same parking lot.) I had her going for a minute.

2-I went and put the KY Jelly on the earpiece of all the Doctor's phone's, along with some other random employees. Then made sure that they all answered them sometime that morning. I got every last one of them. Some however weren't as shocked as I would have liked. Apparently it is normal to pick up to phone and then have a wet, gooey ear.

3-Thanks to a tip from Gary, I went around at random and flipped the picture on the computer screen upside down. There were quite a few calls to IT.

4-I also KY-ed some door handles and refrigerator handles. Which got quite a few people.

5-I gave someone a fake phone message and they called the Zoo.

6-I would randomly call extensions and make it go straight to speaker phone and whisper things, yell things, or just breath heavily (I did this to Amy twice when she wasn't by her phone, but Dr. Butler was. So when she came back in the room he informed her that I keep calling and breathing at her....funny)

7-I told a co-worker that worked at the Layton clinic that I sent over some interoffice mail envelopes earlier in the week and sent her on a wild goose chase all over the clinic to find the non-existent envelopes.

I hit everyone in the whole clinic at least once. I had a whole lot of fun with it all, and I thought that I was quite creative. The only mistake that I made was that I did this all in the morning. Which means you have a whole afternoon for retaliation.

This is what happened, I will list them numerically:

1-Instead of KY on the phone they put Hand Sanitizer! Which for those of you who don't know, stings when you put it in your ear.

2- My Diet Coke can was emptied and filled with water.

3-My keyboard and mouse stopped working even though they were plugged in.

4-Sharen e-mailed me and asked me to stop KY-ing people cause multiple people had called and complained to Administration that they were getting goo-ed.

5-All morning and afternoon, each and every Doctor, randomly came into my office or said little things when I passed them in the hallway, that made me think they were all up to something. Which they weren't they just thought it was funny to see me so paranoid.

6-I was asked to run a STAT to the Layton clinic (a normal occurrence). I was however a little suspicious so I double checked with Linda(the lab tech, a person who claims she cannot lie) who told me it was, in fact, a STAT. I went out to my car only to find that there was no car. After a little panicked searching I found it parked in the parking lot across the street. When I went in to find out who moved the car. I found out that it was not a real STAT, go figure.

I will say this... I do not regret the things I did. They were quite funny, and I was proud of my ingenuity. And even though I was the only one to trick everyone, and everyone else only tricked me. It was worth it and I will take it cause I had an AWESOME day!!!!

PS- For those of you who might be worried. I still have my job.
