Square Foot Garden

So I have followed in my Fathers footsteps, and with his help, I created a square foot garden!

I thought that it was a perfect idea. I live in a townhouse and I don't have a place to grow a garden, but I have a back patio that is used for absolut
ely nothing. So why not put a garden out there.

First we headed out to Stokers and picked up the 'Special Soil Mix' and the seeds that I needed then I went back to my parents and made the box out of some old wood my Dad had.

Here is me making said box, my dad got me started, but I would just like to point out that I built the thing.

Let me just pause here and let you know. I had this big idea and thought 'hey I could do a picture story' so I took this picture. Then got distracted and took a bunch of Kaylee. Then got back on track and took the final picture (which is boring). So, not much of a progress story cause you get none of the in-betweens, but what can you do. I will show you what I have.

This is Kaylee in the backseat on the way to my house with all the goods. It was SO cute! I sang the 'ABC's' wrong so she was schooling me on how you really sing the song. Then she sang 'I am a Child of God' the rest of the way. It was great.

We got to my house and we mixed the soil in the backyard.

Kaylee and I are contemplating what to plant where in this photo.
(Also she did not eat the dirt, she just had an Oreo)

This is my final picture. The darker squares are the Lettuce (Spinach, Romaine, Red Sails). The next day I planted my Peas (the seeds had to soak overnight) in 3 more squares. The remaining 3 are for the Cucumbers and the Herbs (not time to plant them yet).

I will have to post another one when the plants are really alive and thriving, as I am sure that they will be. So far this is all I've got.

If anyone has any questions about Square Foot Gardening my Dad is a genius on the subject.

For those of you who don't have a window or are not in the vincinity.
I feel like I might have jinxed us all.
I take full responsibility for the weather today.

An Exciting Adventure

Just real quick. I was hanging out with my dear cousin Jessica yesterday. We were trying to get to this program on time and we were running late. We went a weird way cause there was a detour and I was sure that we would be able to get there easily. We got lost a couple of times and did a couple of U-Turns. Then we found a road, off the beaten path, but going in the the right direction, we could see the main road that we wanted to be on ahead. So we followed it until it suddenly ran out, and we sat there and stared at this big field in front of us, the main road was right there, like a block away. So do you know what my dear cousin Jessica did. She just kept on going, right through the field, not road, field. I couldn't believe she did it but at least we would get to the road. So we get real close, and wouldn't you believe it, there was a big fence. So we had to back out the whole way, and luckily we saw another car and followed it and managed to get to the road. Way out of the way but a main road. To those of you who were worried we made it in time (we got the time wrong). It was one great adventure.

cute, Cute, CUTE!!!

I just wanted to say that I have the cutest Nieces ever! Thank you Nate and Sarah. I got to hang out with them last night and I had a lot of fun.

This is Kaylee showing some serious tude. Gotta love it!We painted, colored, and played with 'pizzles' (as shown above). We also watched Mickey Mouse and of course Care Bears .
Brenna was so happy and playful. Very cute!

Brenna and I mostly just hung out and made faces at each other. Also we watched a little American Idol, she thought it was just as shocking as I did. Probably because I let out a yell of suprise.

When I tried to put Brenna down to leave she was clinging to me and wouldn't let go. To bad I had to leave otherwise that would have made me stay all night. Then when I said goodbye to Kaylee after the standard bear hug, I said 'Peace Out' and she flashed me the peace sign. Priceless.
